Sometimes amazing stories happen on the roads of war, for example, when doctors cross paths with those they have brought back into service. We would like to share one such story here.

In 2023, a young heavily wounded Ukrainian defender in his 20s was admitted to the NODUS in critical septic condition with multiple infected wounds on his leg and a complicated bone inflammation. Doctors did everything possible to save the soldier from amputation, as the gunshot fracture of his shin bone did not fuse up, although he had been treated in various medical institutions for almost a year, but without success.
The support of philanthropists made it possible for the patient to undergo a series of surgeries and several courses of intensive neuro-rehabilitation. Step by step, he managed to overcome the severe infection, stabilise the bone and restore the damaged muscles and nerves. The warrior was able to return to full life and even get back into the ranks.

So, one day, in the middle of the forest at the front line, there was an unforeseen but very pleasant meeting between the rescued and his rescuer. It was a hug with tears, words of immense gratitude to the doctor, Oleksandr Kulyk.
‘You saved my leg! You can see it! I’m still running and fighting, just like you said! Everything is fine! Thank you!’

This is one of the many cases that we are collecting in the treasury of stories that tell about the joint work of the Kran Charitable Foundation and NODUSU to save our defenders!
These stories are the stories of everyone who is with us on our way to save the most seriously wounded. We dream that there will be many more of us who care about the fate of our military!
