Petro Shvydkyi, an ATO fighter, was 37 years old when he sustained a severe injury in March 2015. The consequences included spinal injuries, damage to the spinal cord, a penetrating chest wound, and numerous fractures and contusions.
The doctors’ verdict—”a lifetime confined to bed or, at best, a wheelchair”—painted a grim outlook for the future…
However, such a way of life was completely unacceptable to a man with strong willpower and a desire to live a full, dignified life, independent of constant external help.
Thus began the long years of treatment and recovery. Six very long years of specialized, individualized neurorehabilitation at the NODUS clinic, as part of the charitable project by the Kran Foundation. Tireless, continuous work, side by side with a team of doctors, achieved a miracle. All of this was made possible thanks to the financial support of donors.
By the time Petro was discharged from the hospital, he was already walking with the help of a cane. This was an outstanding result and a great joy for him — to regain the ability to walk independently.
