A military proverb states: ‘sweat saves blood’, because the efforts spent in training can preserve health not only on the battlefield, but also in recovery from serious injuries.
In the process of neurorehabilitation a strong doctor-patient relationship is important. The effectiveness of treatment directly depends on what the patient is willing to do to achieve the fullest possible recovery and neuromuscular control of voluntary movements. Without incredible efforts on the part of the patient and his desire to recover, the efforts of doctors and philanthropists will be in vain.

Is the patient capable of self-awareness of their role in this process? Does he have the will and strength to take on bold challenges and tasks? Does the patient stubbornly believe in the result and the concept leading to it? Can he/she keep strict volitional limits and restrictions; systematic, many-hour, continuous, strictly directed work, the daily routine of which will certainly bring ‘calluses, bruises and tears’?
All of the Foundation’s beneficiaries have defeated the verdict of ‘wheelchair-bound for life’. Just like the Olympians, day after day, month after month, they used robotic high-tech simulators to restore their motor functions, coordination and cognitive abilities – the abilities that are necessary to get around on their own.
Above all, this is a victory of the unbreakable will to live!
We are very grateful to all those who support the recovery of the severely wounded defenders of Ukraine.
